DHT Transmission

The DHT in the JAECOO J7 PHEV: SHS uses a single-speed configuration that optimizes power delivery and efficiency across a wide range of speeds.

With four driving modes — electric, tandem, parallel, and direct engine drive — the SHS system ensures pure electric operation at low speeds and efficient fuel performance at high speeds. The system toggles seamlessly between electric and petrol-powered fuel sources, delivering powerful performance with minimal energy consumption.

Intelligent Energy Management for Extended Range

Effective energy management is a cornerstone of hybrid tech and what sets JAECOO J7 PHEV: SHS apart is the ability to efficiently deploy sophisticated algorithms to adjust power delivery according to driving conditions, ensuring a balance between performance and fuel economy.

This means the JAECOO J7 PHEV: SHS's modestly sized blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) 18.3kWh battery can deliver close to 100km of pure electric range, an impressive distance more than enough for daily runabouts, and a total of WLTP-rated range of 1,200km on a single charge and full tank. (It is even possible to exceed this as seen during a recent test drive which achieved a total of more than 1,400km!). 

The vehicle's battery thermal management system is also a mark of significant investment in safety and efficiency. The battery has received an IP68 rating (not just for smartphones!) giving it water and dust protection, and armoured with a three-layer shield protection against extreme weather, fire and impact damage.

Also, unlike typical PHEV systems, the SHS ensures the electric battery remains charged and never drops below 20%, aiding in battery health and longevity.

3 Ways to Charge

The JAECOO J7 PHEV: SHS's three different ways to recharge the battery raise the bar in flexibility and ease of use. You can charge at home on a regular 230V 3-pin plug (8.5 hours at 3.3kW), or charge using AC (30% to 80% in three hours at 6.6kW), and even DC quick charging (30% to 80% from in just 20 minutes at 40kW), the latter being the first plug-in hybrid in Malaysia with this feature.

All this plus the system's regenerative braking pretty much ensures that it's pretty hard for the SUV's battery to ever run out of juice.
